Burglars Hitting Hikers’ Cars at Trailheads

An article at Mustang Daily by Nicolle Miller, entitled San Luis Obispo hikers: be wary of burglars, gives a heads up to San Luis Obispo county hikers. Apparently, burglars are targeting the cars of hikers when they park them at trailheads. Nicole had her truck broken into and her wallet stolen this week at the trailhead of the Irish Hills Natural Reserve.

The sheriff she spoke with told that in the past couple weeks there has been a rise in burglaries at trailheads in SLO. In particular, he mentioned those in Prefumo Canyon and the Bob Jones Trail in Avila. The last one surprises me since it’s pretty wide open, public and busy there.

It’s Prefumo Canyon, not Perfumo.

Thanks, fixed.
