Pave Paradise, Put up a Parking Lot…la la la la

Thank God the Mitchell Park vote is over. I’m sick of seeing the "Don’t Pave Paradise" signs all over the area. In a 3-2 vote last night, the seniors won, and ten parking spaces will be created for the Senior Center. Oh, did you not know it was for just ten spots? I know if you just looked at the signs, read the letters to the editor in the local papers, and heard the callers on the radio, you’d think they were paving the whole thing. No, it’s just a small part of the block (click on image at left to see). The vast majority of the park is still going to be there, ready to accommodate assorted protesters for the next blown-out-of-proportion cause.

I’ll bet most of the protesters are the same ones that show up at all the Mitchell Park anti-war rallies carrying signs of "We Support the Troops" (but not their mission). They could fool the public again with signs that say "We Support our Seniors" too, knowing deep down they don’t support their mission to be able to get together at the senior center without having to travel a few blocks on their walkers.

I know, they just want to save the earth. But that includes our elders doesn’t it? Where are the compassionate citizens of San Luis Obispo Obama?
