Craigslist Prostitution is Alive and Well in SLO, but so are the Busts

San Luis Obispo prostituteIn case you didn’t know, prostitution is alive and well in San Luis Obispo. To take a look at what there is to choose from, just go the the “Erotic” section of the SLO subarea of Craigslist. Obviously with all those ads, there must be a pretty thriving business going on. If you happen to be one of the men that avail yourself of these advertised services, and you didn’t already know, I thought I’d better warn you that the girls posting the ads might not be girls, but the San Luis Obispo Police Department instead. Here’s one account of four local guys who answered the wrong ad late last year. There have been others. I wouldn’t answer one of these ads, but I do feel sorry for the men that do (unless you’re married; then get home to your wife!) and get the surprise of their life. Also beware that if it’s not the police, it might be the Johns looking to rob you. And if it’s not the Johns, it might be the disease. If it just were legal…but that’s another story. Be careful.

As a medically retired veteran Police Officer at Atascader PD, I say “Get em all and throw away the key”. As a newly divorced guy I say it is a sad thing when men feel they need to resort to that level. As a resident of San Luis Obispo County I say let’s take up a petition to try and force CraigsList to remove that section from their SLO area site. We do not need it in our community and it will give my fellow brothers and sisters one less thing to have to deal with during a busy shift.

RP, thanks for your comment. I’m wondering if you can tell me just how much time the police department spends on prostitution. Can you estimate a percentage, or tell me how men man hours are spent? Thanks so much.

RP, thanks for the information you sent me.

Atascadero P.D. should pay more attention to the drug dealers at Vons parking lot! I watched 4 transactions in 15 mins while waiting for my wife to return from the store!

i think its sad that people have nothing better to do then worry about what two consensual adults choose to do with there own time and money… so get a life people!!!

THEY GOT HOOKERS ON THE INTERNET? I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF DEM!! HUMINA HUMINA HUMINA

As a wife, I have to question the consensual nature of prostitution. If it were to be legalized–I believe the prostitution agencies would have to do a background check for client’s marriage licenses for it to be truly consensual, because although a husband may consent to the act–his wife may not. In essence, she would be exposed the the myriad of STIs that the prostitute (who has slept with 100-1000s of men) is at risk for. Even with regular testing a prostitute can be incubating and spreading HIV without detection. At the least, the wife should be notified so that she could choose whether to divorce the guy or abstain from having sex with him considering his risky sexual behavior–because she may not be as flippant about her health as her husband is.
